Trick or Treat!!! Its Halloween Time..

Hi everyone! I am back for the moment. Still really buzy with the kids and such. And I have also decided to go back to work. With the economy the way it is, it is just getting to hard to stay home and make ends meet. So I still really want to be part of the groups I have joined, I just might not be as present as I have been in the past.

Anyway...Here are a couple of Halloween cards I made for my boys. Before I hear about..Yes I realize I did use what would be considered Christmas colors but there was a method to my madness!

I used the green color cuz I figured stinky feet would be gross, green and moldy! Yuck! I then choose red for blood and guts. And I just didnt want to go for the traditional orange. So there ya go...that is how I got Halloween cards the color of Christmas cards!

The Summer Blues.....

Well it has been a busy end of summer here for me. Getting the kids back to school, re-newing my gym membership and just general end of summer stuff. So needless to say I have been a bad blogger lately. No challenges, no blog hopping and (sigh) no creativity.

I amazed by the amount of homework the kids get these days! I have 2 boys, 3rd and 5th grade, and we do about 1-2 hours of homework EVERY night! Besides the 30min of reading they each have to do every night too! I am not looking forward to middle school!

So....just wanted to let everyone know that I will be back to blogging soon!

New Challenge Blog - House Mouse Monday!

I ran across a new challenge blog....called House Mouse Mondays....dedicated to all things House Mouse. I missed the first challenge but was able to make the second one. The theme is "lace".
We would like to see the use of lace on your projects, this could be paper lace, frilly lace a shoe lace!! Just let your imagination go wild!!

I don't have much lace stuff but I do have a Friskars punch called "lace" so thought that would work! I also used one of my new HouseMouse Christmas stamps. Background paper is from Debbie Mumm called Harvest & Holiday.

2 Challenges in 1 - Bright Sketchy Colors

I have combined challenges today. First challenge is Friday Sketchers. They had a really neat sketch to follow. The other challenge is the Cute Card challenge where the theme is Bright Colors.

I have used a bright blue and a bright pink for my Bright colors. the image is from Penny Black and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. The coloring isnt the best. I need some new pens-add to my wish list! I have also used my glitter pens on the bubbles and the pink bubbly in the kittys glass.

Double Challenge- A Sketch and A Charm

I have combined the theme from the SarahKay Challenge blog of "Charms" and the sketch from Spoon Full of Sugar challenge.

I don't have many charms so I made my own with some left over jewelery making stuff. I used clear, white and pink cirlce beads on a straigh pin. Bent the pin to "hang" off of the ribbon. Everything else I followed the sketch. Papers are DCWV and stamp Sarah Kay.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge Blog.

This week the theme for the challenge is
Soft Furnishings
you can use fabric, ribbon, stitching, buttons etc, anything you can find on the soft furnishings in the home ie curtains, cushions, sofas etc.

I used my new Lilac Designs Snowgirl stamp set. She is so cute hugging her snowman! I wanted to use some bright colors so I went with a hot pink and a bright turquoise. Love the colors. I tried matching the cs colors to the ink colors I used to color the image. And since the theme is soft furnishings I used some lace ribbon and some pink rhinestones.

Stamp Something Challenge - Summertime!

Over at Stamp Something Challenge blog the theme is Summer! So for this week's challenge we want you to create a project to remind you of something from the summertime. Scrap a page about a fun summer day or make a card featuring your favorite summer items or colors, anything that reminds you of summer is fair game!

Summertime to me is BBQ's, Camping, Swimming and Family. And sunny, hot weather! And it will all end soon. WAHH!! Kids are not too excited that school starts soon here. But mom is! LOL!!

Anyway back to the card.....so I pulled out some Clear Studio G stamps. Stamped each image and punched them out with my Creative Memories 1 1/4' square punch. Then used blue(for the summery blue skies) cs for the layering square. Punched from the same square punch except it is 1 1/2' square. The background cs is from DTWV and is their summertime paper pack. Its hard to see but the words are all summertime things ( picnics, sandals, surf board, ice cream to name a few). I colored the images and popped them up with 3-D adhesives.

The Cute Card Thursday Challenge the theme is "The Two of Us".

I chose my little boy on his bike stamp for Inkadinkado-Me&My BIG Ideas line. I stamped the image twice and then colored them with pens and some glitter pen on their helmets. The Sharing Smiles sentiment is actually a sticker. I layered the image and sentiment with red and blue cs. Added a strip of red cs that I had run thru my Cuttlebug-Swiss dots folder. All on the background of brown cs.

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge - Recycle

Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge the theme is "Recycle".....use something that you have recycled on your card,It could be some scraps of card from your stash or some old scraps of material anything really it's up to you,let your imagination run wild.

Well I used some old wrapping paper for the background. Trying to get a pic and sentiment on it without covering too much up was a little tricky. So I cut around the image and sentiment. I kinda got carried away with the glitter. Added some on her jeans, hat ribbon and her hair ribbons. Also traced the sentiment in glitter. What can I say I am in love with my new glitter pens! I then added some rhinestones to the middle of the flowers. Image is Sarah Kay and sentiment is Hero Arts.

ABC Challenge Blog - E for Embellishments

At ABC Challenge blog the letter of the week is "E" for Embellishments.

I used a cute duck stamp from Great Impressions. I first stamped the ducks on white cs-they had a bikini and shirt on but I didnt want to color them I thought I would try to paper pierce them. So I then stamped in on metallic pink and metallic purple cs. Cut out the bikini and the shirt and glued it on the ducks. It looks pretty cool in real life. Kinda has a raised look so I was pretty happy with it!

I stuck with the pink and purple them by layering it with hot pink and dark purple cs. And then added some light pink cs with purple and pink circles on it. And for my Embellishments I added some purply-pink flowers with brads and a strip of pink ribbon.

My Time to Craft - Christmas cards

At My Time to Craft the theme is Christmas!!

I have to say every year I say to myself : self you need to start on your x-mas cards early this year. And every year what happens...November comes around and I havent done a single one!!! So this is my first Christmas card for the year! Love challenges that actually help me keep myself on track! LOL

Here is mine. Stamps set is from Iqueboutique-see~d's line. Just love the little birdie all bundled up! So cute. Couldnt decide on a color for the birdie and didnt want to leave him naked so ended up with a red for christmas and red cardnials. Background is gray cardstock stamped with some snowflakes using my Versamark. Layered with gray and metallic blue cardstock. Add some sheer blue ribbon and bright blue rhinestones.

Picture isnt the best but too lazy to go snap another. Thanks for looking!

Double Challenge - Arty Girlz & Friday Sketchers

Cute Card Challenge - Things that Grow

The challenge theme at Cute Card Thursdays is "Things that Grow"-The obvious things would be plants etc but really there are lots more things that grow, we look forward to seeing your own interpretations!

I went the obvious route with a plant! But I wanted to ink up my new Inkadinkadoo stamps that I got on a little shopping trip with my mom.

On the background I used on of the stamps with Versamark. Then stamped the main image with my Stazon Timber Brown. Colored it with orange and green Zig Memory Writers. I then ran over the pumpkin and the flowers with my clear glitter pen. Added some orange and green flowers with brown brads. I didn't have a sentiment that I liked so hand wrote "Thankful" and some swirls on plain cardstock.

This week is a sketch at the Penny Black Challenge. Great sketch. One I will probably use again!

I decided to go a bit out of my comfort zone and use some bright fun colors. I tend to go for light pastels and only one/two colors. I think it turned out pretty good! Used scrap cs and DCWV dp. The sentiment is a clear rub-on/sticker. Penny Black stamp colored with colored pencils. I want to try a new medium for color but not sure what is the step up from colored pencils! lol.

Friday Sketchers Challenge

This is the sketch that the Friday Sketchers challenge is doing this week. Love the simplicity of it. I had this image from Dover Publications that I had printed out on cs. I then used my circle cutter to trim the image into a circle. There was words at the bottome of the image. I cut them out and used it for my sentiment. It says " Won't you come and play with me!". I used some scrap papers and some dp from DCWV.

My Time to Craft - Numbers

I recently got this wonderful stamp that I HAD to have! I haven't inked it yet..I guess I was waiting for the right time. Well I decided to use it for the My Time to Craft challenge. The theme is numbers.

I first inked the stamp with versamark and then covered with brown embossing powder. Used my heat gun to heat it up and to my suprise it made it into a coppery shiney color. Cool! I then layered it over a Cuttlebug embossed brown cs and a crinkley golden cs. No sentiment. I just dont have the right one. I am not sure what I am looking for but nothing I have seems to fit. Maybe I just wont use one!

But I was just notified that my new Sarah Kay stamp has just shipped! Yippiee! I cant wait! This image is from a RAK from Shaz at FunkyFairysPaperCrafts. She was nice enough to share hers. Anyway...here is my card for the challenge.

So I went thru my stash and founds an array of purples, lavenders and lilacs. And picked a few. I chose a purple background. I layered that with some fun purple cs from CTMH. And the layer on the image and sentiment is Metallic Amethys from The Paper Company. And some flowers with jewel brad from my stash.

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge - Circles

I thought I would try my hand at another challenge site. I found A Spoon Full of Sugar challenge site. And this weeks theme is "Circles". I used circles all over my card! I even rounded the corners on the non-circle items. I thought about making a circle card but decided I am not that talented!

So here is my card. I used K&Company papers for the background and the layer papers. I used Bazzill Metallic Rose paper for the circle in the sentiment. I also used my cuttlebug Bloom Dots embossing folder. The stamps are from Great Impressions and Kaiserstamps.

I used my brand new stamp that I first saw at Jennifer-Glitter in my hair blog. She made the cutest card with a skateboarder stamp from Lilac City Stamps. When I saw it I knew I had to have it! With 2 boys it would be perfect for SO many thing!

At My Time to Craft Challenge is to make something using the theme "SEASONS". You can pick on season or use them all! And the prize is a lovely Magnolia stamp!!

I am not entirely happy with it but I was stuck with two thoughts. One I wanted it to look like a window and two I wanted to use this stamp set by Hero Arts. So today is my birthday and I plan on spending it doing nothing, nada, zip, zilch! My oldest is making me breakfast in bed. He is so sweet, he will be 10 on July 15th. My youngest made me a cute card which I will post later. He loves to craft with me and is 8.

Do most people stop celebrating birthdays once they reach a certain age? Or is everyday a celebration? Does it get worse the older you get? I find that since I had kids my birthday is just another day. A day I happened to be born on but no one stops their day, the world keep revolving. I guess it is all about priorities...my kids come first.

So enjoy your day! And have a piece of cake on me!

I combined the Papertake Challenge and the new challenge blog ABC Challenge.
At Papertake it is a two-fold challenge. First you are to make a Thank you card and for an optional extra is to use coffee and cream colors.
And the ABC blog is "A for Animal". Use an animal in your creation.

So I dug thru my brown/tan cardstock and found a dark "coffee" and a "cream" cardstock. It seemed to blah so used a brown/cream/red design paper for a layer. I also added a creamy, glittery flowers with red brads. And to fulfill the animal part I used a few PB hedgies.

I have been busy posting the last few days and appreciate everyone who drops by and leaves me a comment. I try to return all comments so I can check out all the fab blogs out there!

Cute Card Challenge-No Patterned papers

Last challenge for today! And it is the Cute Card Challenge blog. This one was to use no store bought patterned papers. You can use handmade patterned papers though.

I stamped flower/swirls by InqueBoutique on turquoise cardstock for my patterned paper. Used my new Inkiadinkado sentiment stamp. And some SU turtles. Aren't they cute!? I also added some rhinestones to a few flowers.

Over at Penny Black Challenge blog is to use the color combo of Pink*Brown*Green. Love the colors!! And of course use your PB stamps!

I knew I wanted to use a light pink. I used Rose Metallic Bazzill cardstock. Love the light color and the added shimmer. I layered that over a cool brown and green striped cs from DCWV-Summer. Used a cute PB Hedgie and a SU sentiment. Added a few flower brads.

At Stamp Something blog Challenge is to use RED*WHITE*BLUE in your creation and here is the kicker.....It can't be a card! Yikes...I really had to think on this one. I don't really do anything else but cards. SO..I tried making a journal/diary/notebook.

The journal book was already red so I layered it with white and then metallic blue cardstock. Stamped some small stars on white and red cardstock. And used a rub-on for the sentiment. The white swirl at the bottom was also already on the journal so I kept it.

Stamp Something Sketch Challenge

At Stamp Something Challenge blog is to use this sketch. Lots of layers(which I have a hard time with). But I think it turned out ok! I used this new stamp set from Inqueboutique that I got at a local craft store(Ben Franklin). I just had to have this little lamb...isnt he adorable!

I brushed his coat with some pearl glitter paint and colored his hooves in brown. Added a flower with a brad. I added the flower because I wanted to use the brown strip but it seemed to dark to be on top. I thought the flower softened the dark brown. Used shimmer Bazzill CS and DP from DCWV-Spring Collection.

Penny Black Challenge - First Stamp

My first Penny Black stamp is "Meeting Shelty". I bought it mosty because it has a pony on it and I love horses/ponies. But I really love Penny Black stamp on a whole and now have a bunch of them.

I had fun using the buttons on the My time to Craft challenge that I used the same kind of layout for this card. And I used some Bazzill Bling cardstock to jazz it up a bit.

I am back!!!!! I am feeling better...my hand is better. Thanks to everyone for the "take care" wishes! Now I just need to get back into my crafting mode. The kids are out of school for the summer and I will be busy with them but hope to do a few challenges a week and visit all my blog friends!

Another Katharina Sketch at Cute Card Thursday Challenge.

I had the image I wanted to use but I had already colored it and it is square instead of oval. So hope that is ok. It is a Sarah Kay image that I got from Sharon at Funky Fairys Ramblings.

I used a metallic green CS from Brazzill and the blue DP is from DCWV. The ribbon I used is a soft furry blue/green ribbon. I tyed it in a bow but it looks like a ball of yarn right now. I think I will mess with it some more but wanted to get my card posted.

Here is my take on the sketch. I used a cute Tilda I got in an image swap. I colored her in with colored pencils. I used Shimerz glitter paint on her wings. DP is from MyMomenta called Candy Blossoms. The solid cardstock is from DCWV. The sentiment is from Studio G and I added a couple ladybugs to it. Finished it off with a few adhesive rhinestones.

Here is the sketch for the 2nd Challenge at Friday Sketchers.

Here is my take on it. Stamps are from Studio G. I colored in the chick with colored pencils. The DPs are from My Momenta and DCWV. I addeds some rhinestone brads in the flower centers and sticky rhinestones down the side of the sentiment image.

My time to Craft and a new challenge site Friday Sketchers are featured in my card. My time to Craft's theme is "Dark Hair" and Friday Sketchers is to use this sketch...

I had this image already colored. I had her hair light brown so I just ran a black colored pencil over it to darken her hair.

No sentiment but the paper between the blue cardstock and the backing of the image is a printed paper that says different springy phrases like: fly a kite, spring has sprung, rainbows, birds singing, warm weather, sunny spring days and others.

I also flipped the sketch since the image was a larger image. Thanks for looking!

First challenge at Stamp Something! Yeah another challenge site-love them!! So being that it is their first challenge the theme is "First Something"...Challenge yourself to try something entirely new. Attempt a new layout or color combination or a new technique or fancy fold/card style that you've been wanting to try but have been putting off. You could also just keep with the theme of "Firsts" and make a card for a first birthday, a first baby, a first house, a first car, or any other first you can think of. Keep it as simple or as complicated as you'd like.
My card is "First" Car.

I used red and black as my color theme. The stamp is from SU-Loads of Love. Colored it with colored pencils. I used a Studio G stamp for the corner whirls.

I just got these cute papers...love the ice cream cones!! So patched them together, ran a ribbon over the seam(I don't have a scallop punch) and added a few bling.

The cupcake I colored with my Twinkling H2O-lilac. Used colored pencils on the cupcake wrapper.

Cute Card Challenge this week is Gems and Jewels.

I had the perfect paper I wanted to use for this challenge. It is from K&Company and it has a glitter sheen to it. I went thru my images from a card swap and found this little girl. Colored her in with colored pencils. Sentiment is from Stampin Up. Where the gems come in are in the middle of the girls flower she is holding. And along the bottom of the image as well as the sentiment.

Papertake Challenge-Accordian Card

This week at Papertake Challenge is a tutorial for an Accordian card. Great tutorial and it is a unusual card style(for me atleast). But it was kinda fun to make!

Since the panels are kinda skinny I had to pick a narrow stamp. I happen to have "Cool Cat" from Stampin Up on my table. I had bought them from Jennifer-Glitter in My Hair and hadn't used them yet so I grabbed them! I didn't want to do the usual black cat so I did a blue cat. The ink I used is called Moonstruck from Close to my Heart. I dotted her collar with silver stickles glitter glue. Attached a ribbon with brads to keep the card closed.

I didn't really want to do cardstock on each of the panels so I just used a similar flower stamp and stamped it with the flowers all thru the middle. I didn't do anything else to them...I am thinking about coloring them in with the same colors as the design paper. Not sure and didn't want to mess it up. What do you think..color or no color?!

My Time to Craft Challenge - Ribbons

My Time to Craft Challenge is to use RIBBONS in your design. And in honor of Mothers Day...which is fast approching...May11th! I did a Mothers Day card.

I found this really cool paper that has "Mother" written all over it. And flowers, hearts, doodles etc. Just a single sheet. It is by Karen Foster Designs. It was hard to not cover the design up! So I did just a little stamped flower from Stampin Up and used my Close to my Heart alpha set to stamp out MOM.

On the flower I colored it with colored pencils then went over it with my Twinkling H20's. Added some ribbon(cuz that is what the challenge was all about!!).

P.S. dont tell my Mom but this is her card for Mothers day! :)

I just bought some Twinkling H2O's and this cute penguin stamp so I wanted to incorporate them in somehow. I didn't want to stamp her in black so I decided on lilac. And it just so happened I had a purple in my H2O's!

And the sentiment(although you cant read it) says "It's your birthday go barefoot". Love it! It is also stamped in lilac ink. I used the H2O on the flower and the bikini on the penguin. I also brushed a few strokes on the grassy part of her skirt. I then went all crazy and brushed some of the H2O over the sentiment. Which is cute in person but on photo not so great.

I plucked a few purple flowers outta my stash and then hit a block...ribbon....didn't want to use purple too much already. I didn't really have a turquoise ribbon but I had a bluish-green ribbon that I then coupled with a white to kinda hide the fact it didn't really "match". And again, the color is off in the photo. Color is closer match in person than it is in the photo....or I am color blind! LOL

At Taylored Expressions we were to use this sketch for her Cupcake Challenge. Cupcakes not neccessary but if you have why not use them!!

I wanted to use a different color scheme than my usual pink and brown. I used different shades of purple and blue. Not sure if I totally like it.....The cupcakes came out a little dark in the picture but in person they are a bit lighter.

Cute Card Challenge - In the Garden

The theme over at Cute Card Challenge is "In the Garden"....This week, a nice easy theme, anything to do with gardens. Could be people gardening, having fun in the garden, a garden scene or perhaps some little animals you might find in the garden.

I don't really have alot of garden-y stuff but I did have this image from a image swap....the cute little watering can! I used colored pencils to color it in. Used some glitter cs in the background and a few flowers w/brads from my stash. I stayed with the brown and pink theme. But did the middle layer, between the stamped images, in a light/seafoam green cardstock.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Elegant Embossing

The Papertake Weekly Challenge this week was to do some Elegant Embossing(wet or dry). Now I haven't done ANY embossing in years. So I had to go and dust off the embossing stuff and see if I still could do it!

And those of you that are not a fan of pink you might want to divert your eyes...it is going to get "pink" in here!

I dry embossed the dress in lite pink. I wasn't sure if I should color the dress in but I wanted it to look light and airy so I decided against the coloring. And I went against the norm and chose grey as my other color. I also have a fine lite pink print with hearts on it.

I added some ribbon-pink of course! and a pretty flower with brad.

My Time to Craft challenge - Babies

My Time to Craft Challenge is all about babies!

I kinda took the layout from Taylored Expressions Sketch- Cupcake Challenge #13 from friday(that I missed out on!). So it was in my mind when I went to work on this card. I used an OLD StampinUp stamp set. Colored them with colored pencils. Wasnt sure what I wanted as the background but then saw this circle paper and thought it was cute. I think it ended up making the card kinda "dark" but it still works!

You really cant see the sentiment it says:

A baby is cuddles
And tickles on toes
The sweet scent
of powder
A kiss on the nose

So cute!

SBS13 Card swap and More...

Here is my card I got from Kari-Dragonfly Impressions in our SBS 13 Sisterhood card swap. Beautiful card! And not only that Kari is such a sweetie she even included some stamped images and some punches! What a lovely lady!

But that is not all the postman brought me!

I also had done a image swap with Jo-FairymadJo but our posties didnt seem to want to deliver them. But I finally got mine(I hope you finally got yours Jo)!

But not only that I also got some images from Jo-Only JoKing. She saw that I was "complaining" about how I didn't have any Magnolias so she took pity on me and sent me a whole folder of Magnolia images. How awesome is she!!?? Thanks Jo you are the best!

I just have to say that I am so lucky to have a great group of girls in SBS13. So supportive of the crafting habit! I thank you all that come visit and leave me comments.

Papertake Weekly Challenge-Katharina Sketch #2

This week on Papertake Weekly Challenge was to use a sketch from Katharina. I just love the layers!

I used mostly scrap papers. And an image I got from a PIF. The sentiment "Dream" is from Studio G. I added some Shimmerz Glitter Paint to the stars on the image.

I colored the image with colored pencil and added some star embellishments.

This week at My time to craft challenge we were to use fruit in our creation.

And the only fruit I have were these cherries from Close to my Heart. The set is called Little Treasures. The jar is from the same set. Since I don't have alot of tutti frutti stuff I decided to do a small thank you card. It is 3 1/2 x 4 7/8. Odd size but is cute for little notes etc.

Material used: Stamps-Close to my heart and studio G, Ribbon-Offray, Cardstock-Autumn Leaves

This weeks challenge over at Cute Card Challenge site is all about Girls!

I just got this cute dress stamp from The Rubbernecker Stamp co. So I colored red...what girl doesn't want a cute red dress!!
I used my Stickles silver glitter and dotted it at the waist and the hemline. And a couple crystals on the ribbon.
The Celebrate sentiment is raised off the card so it didnt look so flat and the red cardstock is scalloped. Materials used: Stamp-The Rubbernecker Co, Sentiment-Inkiadinkado, Glitter-Stickles, misc CS and Embellishments.

Crafting Fairy Blog Candy

Debbie at Crafting Fairy is having a birthday so she is offering some cool blog candy!

She is offering up for grabs a brand new Magnolia comfy tilda stamp, a 6x6 Laura Ashley Traditional pad of paper, and a box of Flora Doodles flowers.

Here is my card I am entering. I used K&Co Cardstock for the background. The green stripe is from Paper Company it is called Glitter Kiwi.
I used Inkadinkado stamp cupcake and sentiment. I painted the cupcake with Shimmerz Glitter Paint. The top is using Burgandy(but it a dark pink) and the cupcake wrap I used Silver Bells.
I then used some flowers and a flower brad. I also used shimmery blue and pink ribbon.

Materials used: Inkadinkado Stamps, Shimmerz Glitter Paint, K&Company and The Paper Co Cardstock and Various embellishments.
